Why would anyone want to throw themselves into understanding all the complex code regulations for Medi-Cal eligibility and taking on such an arbitrary and mis-understood governmental program?
Little did I know that I was destined to help those in need of funding their care during the last years of their lives! When I had my middle child in 1976, he was born with a permanent life-altering disability that created great stress and uncertainty as to how we would pay for the medical care this little soul would require. There was no health insurance that would cover the cost of medical care he would need.
It was an introduction into a world that I would ultimately embrace for my aging clients many years later. So in 1994, when yet another person experiencing the chaos of paying for their expensive medical care due to aging related issues, crossed my path, I knew I had to do something to help. Remembering the angst I felt in seeking answers to “how” we would cover the cost of care for our young son so many years before, this became my passion for becoming a problem solver for our aging population.
“Planning for Seniors” was basically born from these personal experiences and now I’ve helped thousands of wonderful tax payers reap the benefits of programs that Congress (in 1965) originally meant for those who were aging or disabled and experiencing “catastrophic illnesses.”
